check out my new mani! i walked into my favorite nail salon for my first pedi since having my son and walked out with a pedi and a gel mani! once my nails get to this length, they usually drive me crazy and i tear them off (yep, they are that thin so i am a perfect candidate). i first read about the shellac mani here, but forgot about it until i saw the big sign right as i walked in the door. i chose opi axxium in “cosmo-not tonight honey”. they had a couple of different brands to choose from but i really liked opi’s color selection best (my salon also said that opi was their least favorite brand…i will let you know how my nails fare).

pros: no drying time since they are hardened by a uv light…so no ruining the paint when digging for your car keys. cons: slightly more expensive than a regular mani and you have to pay to get them removed (soak-off instead of the old-school filing/drilling off).

mostly i am just excited that i used the aperture feature on my camera to show off my mani.

have you tried a gel mani yet? what brand did you use? i’d love to hear about it!

    I’m too distracted by your BEAUTIFUL ring to even notice the nails!! LOL.

    I never get fake nails, I think they look horrible on me, but those look totally natural. I might just give them a try!

    thank you! i was a little worried about them being like acrylics but they totally weren’t. i loved the way they looked but mine started lifting so i ended up peeling them off after only a week! but in opi’s defense, my hands are constantly in water washing bottles, etc. =) and i was just happy i didn’t have to pay to get them removed…lol. i would do it again though!
