this weeks fbff topic is feminism and the fashion/beauty industry. when i first read these questions, i wasn’t sure if i wanted to participate or not for this week. while i am all for women’s rights and equality, my fashion choices really have nothing to do with my beliefs. here are my responses:

1. Do you think there is an incompatibility between feminism and a love for fashion? for me, they are not related. the way i dress has nothing to do with my beliefs.

2. There is more to each of us than a love for fashion, how do you incorporate every aspect of yourself into your blog? i incorporate what i wouldn’t mind any stranger who comes across my blog to know about me. i am an open book but not on the internet. for example i would love to post thousands of pictures of my son on here but then my paranoia kicks in and i worry that some perv will come across his pics (if you don’t believe me…someone did a search for nude housewife and landed on my blog…i promise you…i will NEVER be nude on this blog! or any blog…LOL!) but i am always honest and the opinions on here are ALWAYS mine.

3. With the fashion industry still being a male-dominated profession, how do you think it would differ if women played a larger role? the first thought that came to my mind was that high fashion would be more comfortable. a man created the high heel, right? =)

4. How is your self-image and the way you carry yourself informed by your beliefs? all i know is if i look good, i feel good. i wear what i think looks good on me.

5. Do you think clothing/makeup/hair helps communicate the truth about yourself or are those things superfluous add-ons? i don’t think it communicates the TRUTH about me. i am a girly girl. i enjoy hair & makeup & clothes. that is part of me…not all of me. and i do not apologize for being a tad high maintenance.

And nor should you apologise! It’s great that we have the choice, and we shouldn’t have to feel the restrictions.

I’ve not been here before – what a beautiful blog and lovely header!!

I like your answers to these questions. I kinda struggled with the beliefs forming what I wear question as they are entirely separate entities for me. Like you – I wear what I feel good in.
    Happy Friend Friday!

“All I know is, if I look good, I feel good…” Love it! I couldn’t have said it better. I didn’t know if I would have anything to say this week either, but it makes you look deeper into why you’re into fashion. Glad you did 🙂

Like your answers. These were not easiest questions since the answers were not quite so black and white.
