“This week, for Fashion/Beauty Friend Friday we’re talking about the strangeness of fashion; especially fashion blogging. As style bloggers we often take sartorial risks that others shy away from. At other times we wish we could be more bold. This week, the questions are about that”! ~Katy, Modlychic

1. Since you began blogging do you notice a change in the types of things you gravitate towards while shopping? ABSOLUTELY. i am much more likely to try new trends. today i even tried on a fedora which i swore i would never be caught wearing. and i liked it. i am MUCH more into accessories now.

2. Do you find, as a fashion blogger, that you dress differently from your family and friends? Do they comment on that? yes and no. now when i see my friends they ask if i’ve already taken pics of my outfit which cracks me up. and some even ask me for fashion advice. i’ve never thought of myself as stylish even though my blog is called the stylish housewife.

3. What’s the weirdest fashion that you secretly like, even if you aren’t bold enough to wear it? gladiator sandals. they look good on everyone but me! they aren’t really bold, but i am VERY aware of my chicken ankles when i try to wear the one pair i have!

4. Looking at current trends – what would you like to try but need to build up the courage to do? i’m gonna go with the turban headbands. i’m not sure i could pull that off!!!

5. Toot someone’s horn – what fashion blogger out there inspires you with her bold fashion choices? i am ALWAYS inspired by blair eadie from atlantic-pacific. she truly is the master of layering and puts together the most fabulous combos. i came across her blog on visual basics. rach (the artist behind the blog) does a series called “blogger sketch sundays” and blair eadie was featured. i’ve been a fan ever since.

I’m completely in the same boat with you as the Fedora. I think they look great on some people but I’ve never been a hat person. Although I definitely want a floppy hat this summer!! I bought a pair of denim leggings (“jeggings” but I hate that word) and I never thought I would. I’m a little blessed in the behind and I thought they wouldn’t look good on me. They’re black so that helps but they’re super comfy! I love them!!

Thanks for sharing this! It was fun to read. I agree- now when I’m shopping I am more aware of following the latest trends (have also started to like the fedora-at first I was skeptical). Now I am on to searching for color blocking pieces! Have a wonderful weekend girly. xo

Wow – hadn’t come across Atlantic-Pacific before – but that look is gorgeous! Accessories are also something I use a lot more of since blogging. And a turban – definitely try it!! I have seen a few on the high street and want to try one too 🙂

I think you have incredible style! I also think its great that as a Mom you still put in the effort. A lot of Mom’s I know think they’ve had a kid and let go and its an excuse. This is really inspiring and someday when I have a baby I hope I can be as fashion forward as you. Keep it up!

Ah! I’m a huge a-p fan too! And right now, I’m currently getting lost in all your posts and now becoming a ‘stylish housewife’ fan! So happy to find your blog. 🙂

Ooo, I like turbans too, but on other people! haha, I think my head is too big to pull off a turban for some reason!

I ‘ve also gotten more inspired by things I would never have tried years ago-like vintage dresses and midi skirts.

Atlantic-Pacific IS a pretty awesome blog!
