i JUST received my august birchbox! it seemed to come a little late this month so i was starting to worry! and then i started thinking maybe my mailman decided to keep it…lol. nahhhh.

befine night cream and exfoliating cleanser: i am always a little nervous to try any new face washes or cleaners because i am terrified i am going to break out. i already have monthly breakouts that are bad enough! but i used the exfoliating cleanser because i wanted to use my self tanner. i was expecting it to smell yummy but it wasn’t as fragrant as i expected. i did however, love the texture. i used the little bit that was extra on my hands and it definitely made my skin feel soft. i haven’t had a chance to try the night cream yet.

kate spade twirl perfume: i rarely wear perfume because if i smell perfume all day long it gives me a headache. and it makes me sad because i want to wear it! the only perfume i have bought in the last 5 years is nanette lepore. i love that perfume.

blinc mascara: omg…i was SO excited when i first saw that there was mascara in this months birchbox! but i have to agree with kimberly…there isn’t enough volume. i LOVE mascara…in fact if i could only wear one type of makeup, it would be mascara. it definitely gave me length but i like PLUMP lashes =) like tammy faye baker plump. but it is cool how it doesn’t smear all over when you remove it!

lift lab high potency solution: i saw anti-aging and immediately ran to the bathroom and applied it around my crows feet. and then i got online and read about it and it said…do not use near eyes or mouth. oops. i got paranoid and wiped it off with a q-tip but i will DEFINITELY use this. i LOVE any fountain of youth serum…lol. =)

the extra item-twistband hair tie: i thought this was just a ribbon in the box but it is a hair tie. surprisingly it held my ponytail very well. it’s a keeper!

    Every time I see a birch box review my heart sinks a little! It was your blog I first saw it on and fell in LOVE with the idea of it. I immediatley started to look in to organising signing up only to discover we don’t have it here in Australia 🙁 SO… make sure you enjoy all your little goodies that little extra bit more for the aussie gals who miss out 🙂

    I got the same items as you this month! I do not like the mascara. at all. I actually screamed when I was washing my face and looked into the sink. I thought a bug had landed on my face and I had been rubbing it around while I washed. Luckily, I realized that was just the “tubes” of mascara. but still… yuck

    You got a way better birchbox than me this month! I got blinc liquid eye liner, a hair mask, face cleanser (afraid to use because I don’t want to break out!), an eye treatment pad and a twistband. It was my first birchbox and I was a little disappointed. OH well, there’s always next month!

    I was disappointed in this month’s box- the mascara doesn’t do it for me- I need length+volume! I usually do Dior lash primer and MUFE’s Smoky Lash mascara. The scrub was kind of harsh and it didn’t smell as good as I thought it would. I hope next month is better.

    I’ve used tube mascara before from either Cover Girl or L’Oreal. I can’t remember what the brand/name was, but I actually liked it. It was a double wand, so you applied the white tubes first, then coated it with black mascara.

    When I realized that blinc didn’t do a dang thing for my lashes, I decided to use it as a mascara base coat, if you will. And now, I use it almost every time I put on mascara. I do a coat of blinc, then a coat of my favorite mascara. Know what? Everything washes off in tube form! The regular mascara grabs onto the tubes and doesn’t run or drop NEARLY as much, if at all, during the day and everything washes off just like you are only wearing mascara tubes. I’m glad I found a use for the bottle of blinc, because it was a huge sample!
