a while back, i sent a tweet asking rachel zoe what brand/color lipstick she uses. to my surprise, i got a quick response with a link back to exude lipstick (red #1). i could NOT wait to check it out. and then i saw the price tag of $29. lipstick is not something i usually splurge on so i passed on it. and then i saw it in the birchbox shop. i had been saving up my birchbox points and decided i would finally use them on this lipstick. so what do you think…do i look a little more rachel zoe to you? ha ha! proof that celebrity endorsements work. and now for my review:

what i love: the color, scent and moisturizing formula are fab. the applicator is fun to use. it didn’t completely stain my lips like most red lippy sticks do. the packaging.

what i don’t love: this was described as a creme lipstick but to me, it felt much more like a gloss (although it wasn’t sticky). i had to use quite a bit to get the full coverage i wanted. the price.

    That is pretty spendy for lipstick, but it does look AMAZING on you…so I’d say it was worth it! 🙂

    A red lip looks beautiful on you! A great color, kind of ashamed that you had to use a lot to achieve this color. I have a few higher priced lipstick and sometimes I feel like the $8 Revlon’s are just as good if not better!

    I love this lip color and it looks great on you! Did they mess up and give you the scarlet gloss? I wonder would that one would look like since they actually refer it as a gloss. But I love the glossy look of red#1. 🙂

    You look great in this red lipstick, I’ve never heard of Exude cosmetics, but that’s why I love to visit your blog to learn more about beauty products! I totally know the feeling, $29 is hefty for lipstick…few years ago I bought the Guerlain Rouge G lipstick. It’s the one where you take out the lipstick and a mirror unfolds? Well NM had an engraving event…$48 later…haha I had Diva Star engraved on my lipstick which is such a nude shade that I could just have applied chapstick….yup.

    I’m a huge advocate of higher end lipstick. It lasts longer, wears better and doesn’t have that yucky smell lol! I haven’t been introduced to this brand yet, and I’ll definitely be picking it up with my Birchbox points! Thanks, Jenn!

    I got this in my Birchbox this month. I liked it. I have thin lips that make bold lip color hard to pull off, so this ligher-feeling version worked for me!

    I agree with everyone else – you look great in this shade!

    heeeeeey girl, how have you been? i’ve been obsessed with a lipstick that rachel wore on the RZP in her interview segments, googled it and landed on your page lol. do you know if this is the color she wore on her show. it looks like it may be. it was sort of a medium coral pink red.

      heyyyyyy jennifer!!! so happy you stopped by! =) supposedly (per the RZ twitter account) this is the exact red she wore. it is a very BRIGHT red and is almost gloss-like. but very pretty. i still want to know what color the really deep red is that she wears! xo

    Ohhhh so this is the color she was wearing on her show The Rachel Zoe Project, in the interview pieces where she is talking to the camera? I LOVED that color. Been looking for it ever since and was excited that your site had the answer for me LOL.
