this month i was given the option to try the teen vogue curated box instead of the regular birchbox. i was NOT disappointed! here’s what i got:

twistband hair ties – what they say: each twistband is made of soft elastic that keeps braids, buns, and ponytails secured. because they’re thicker than regular hair ties, they don’t leave crimps in hair. what i say: as you guys know, i LOVE these. i can always be found with one in my hair or on my wrist on playdate days! they are the only hair ties i have found that don’t break my hair.

essie luxeffects nail polish in “a cut above” – what they say: kick your paws up a notch with these super sparkly polishes. erom blingy silver to gilded gold, Essie uses a DBP, toluene, and formaldehyde-free formula to produce textured polishes in an array of luxe glazes. what i say: i already have this polish but i LOVE it. click here to see my last manicure using it. SUCH a fun glitter polish!

shiseido pureness oil control blotting papers – what they say: made with oil-absorbing ingredient hydroxyapatite, these sheets have the power to erase shine instantly by soaking up excess sebum. they’ll keep you looking fresh and matte on the fly. what i say: i have been meaning to buy some blotting paper for some time now. i have really weird combo skin and my forehead seems to get a “shine” to it by mid-morning. usually i grab a square of toilet paper but these will be nice to throw in my purse for on the go blotting!

tarte lipsurgence lip tint in “peaceful”– what they say: these user-friendly chubby lip pencils are a goofproof way to lasting, moisturizing color. a cross between a stain and a gloss, each gel-based tint goes on sheer yet stays true for hours. what i say: um, am i the only one who gets SUPER excited when we get FULL-SIZE new products to try? this lip pencil kind of looks like a gloss but feels like a lipstick which i love. and the color is PERFECT.

annick goutal petite cherie perfume – what they say: this feminine and youthful scent smells great on women of all ages. a dominant top note of fresh, ripe pear gives way to a chorus of ripe peach, rich vanilla, and green grass. beneath it all, a base note of musky rose lingers for hours. what i say: as you know i am not much of a perfume person but this is very light. almost like a body spray. i could totally smell the peachy pear scent.

so my friends…if you have not joined birchbox yet, i’m afraid we can’t be friends any more. KIDDING. but seriously, what are you waiting for? this box included TWO full-sized products. i probably say this every time but this was my favorite birchbox yet! join here.

    This looks so fun! I just got a “surprise” extra Birchbox in the mail, but it was all skin care products and I’m scared to try them because I don’t want to break out!

    I’m a fairly new reader…. but I signed up for the BirchBox because of your great posts. I was SO excited when I got mine this month. Almost the same as yours, but my polish was gold glitter! LOVE IT! I seriously put all of it on right out of the box. Thanks for the great suggestion and the great blog! I’m really enjoying it. 🙂

    I don’t subscribe, but I feel like Birchbox constantly toys with my emotions when they offer amazing boxes like this one month and then complete duds for the next three.

    I am so sad! I elected for the teen vogue box but that was not what I got. I honestly feel like I got the senior citizen box…herbal teas? And lavender hair powder…dry shampoo in a packet? 🙁

        My favorite dry shampoo is No Drought from LUSH. Smells slightly citrusy. It comes as powder, so you have to work it through your hair; not quite as easy as the aerosol spray ones, but smells the best of any dry shampoo I’ve come across and works really well. I was actually able to get days 4 and 5 out of a washing, and usually can only make it 3.

    I’ve been eyeing the birchbox a while now, since i’ve seen many bloggers blog about their own birchboxes, my only complains is that the sizes/amount of the products are too small for me. although posts like this make me want to subscribe. i mean how gorgeous can this nail polish be? i want it!
    fab review, and love the fact that you write about what they say and what you think.

    I didn’t receive the tarte lip surgence so I didn’t get 2 full size samples :/ To me it was a typical Birchbox and they say you’ll get “deluxe samples” but the products are so tiny!

    I got basically the same set you did but with the tarte lip tint in “amused.” I would love to see what “peaceful” looks like swatched or actually on.

    This has been one of my favorite Birchboxes to date. 🙂
