One of the most common questions I get on the blog is “How do you get your beachy waves”? I did somewhat of a picture tutorial here and I still use the same technique, although my hair is now MUCH shorter (gasp)! But I thought I would also share an updated list of my favorite styling products & tools too. I’ve been using some of these products since high school ( 20+ years) and others are products that I reviewed and still love & use.

Cleanse

Kerastase Bain Chroma Riche Shampoo, Kerastase Chroma Captive Masque Conditioner, Kerastase Masque Force Architecte Conditioner

I’ve been using Kerastase products for YEARS and since I get my hair done so often (seriously, I’m at the salon every 3 weeks), it is important that I use products specifically for my color treated hair. I love how shiny this shampoo makes my hair and I alternate between the two conditioners. Both leave my hair SUPER soft and don’t weigh it down.

leave-ins

Infusium 23 Leave-in Treatment, Bed Head Ego Boost, Nexxus Pro-Mend Heat Protectant

I’ve used Infusium 23 leave-in and Bed Head Ego Boost leave-in since high school. My hair just does not feel the same without them. The Nexxus pro-mend heat protectant was something I randomly bought using Birchbox points and I ended up loving it. It leaves my hair shiny too!

styling tools

Chi Ultra Blowdryer, Jose Eber Clipless Curling Iron, Keratin Complex Stealth Straightener

I think I’ve had this Chi blowdryer for at least ten years. Knock on wood that it doesn’t go out on me anytime soon! I’ve also used the Keratin Complex Stealth Straightener for probably just as long. I had the first version which finally died on me recently so I re-purchased the Stealth 3. I still think the old one worked a little better but this one is still better than other brands I’ve tried. And then the curling iron that changed the way I curl my hair forever is the Jose Eber Clipless Curling Iron. I LOVE it and am tempted to buy another one as back-up…just in case! To get my beachy waves/curls, I just separate my hair into two sections and curl the underneath first and then the top layer. I also like to alternate the direction of the curls so they don’t all lump together.

styling products

Toni & Guy Volume Plumping WhipToni & Guy Sea Salt Spray, L’Oreal Elnett Satin Hair Spray, Redken Shine Flash Spray

I reviewed a few Toni & Guy hair products (seen here) and I absolutely LOVE the volume plumping whip. It REALLY does give you major volume. Sometimes I use it just on my roots for lift and sometimes on my whole hair for extra volume. I also love to spritz my hair with the Toni & Guy Sea Salt Spray for texture. Then I add shine with a quick spray of Redken Shine Spray and finish with a quick spray of hair spray. And tah dah…beachy waves.

Botanical Gardens

1. Palm Print Playsuit 2. Tropical Palm Print Cami 3. Palm Print Cigarette Pants 4. Palm Print Jumpsuit 5. Palm Print Jumpsuit 6. Palm Tree Playsuit 7. Tropical Floral Print Midi Dress 8. Palm Print Shorts

Gahhh…I’m so bummed. I fell in LOVE with this dress and then wouldn’t you know it…it sold out like THE SAME DAY it was listed. With a $200+ price tag, I was certain I had time to think about it. Apparently not! Ah well…at least I found a ton of cute palm/botanical print alternatives. #5, #6 and #7 are my faves. What do you think???

band of gypsies short suit

Some of you might remember this outfit from my birthday wishlist. I was so happy when it arrived and actually fit. I was a little worried the top would be too cropped and the shorts too short but I think it works. I would definitely recommend sizing up in the top though. The sleeves slowly creep up so if I had gotten a size up, I think it would have taken care of that problem. Otherwise…I could sleep in this outfit! SO comfy!

half yearly sale

Today kicks off the half-yearly sale for women & kids at Nordstrom! I used to work right across the street from a Nordstrom which was not so great for my wallet. Although I still look forward to the half-yearly sales! Old habits die hard, am I right? These days, I pretty much exclusively shop online and with free shipping & returns at Nordstrom…there’s no reason not to! BTW, this is a shoppable collage of my fave items on sale so if you see anything you like above, just click on the image and it will take you right to the item to purchase! How about you…do you prefer to go to an actual store or do you shop online like me???

CAbi St. Barths Clutch

I fell in LOVE with this clutch at CAbi’s B.i.G. Event back in April. We got a sneak peek at the St. Barths collection before it was available and this was my fave piece from the collection. Although I am pretty obsessed with the pom pom scarf too (last worn here). The collection’s theme is a “Vacation State of Mind” which is exactly where my mind is at right now. Totally feeling overdue for a vacay…how about you?
