Last night while I was watching (and live-tweeting) the Grammy’s, a tweet came through from @whowhatwear that said “20 trends we’re totally over-and you should be too“. So of course I immediately clicked and forgot I was even watching the Grammys. First up was “cut out shoulder tops”…ok I’m good there. Next up was “sock buns”…ok…never did that either…and my hair is too short now anyway. And then I saw “designer puns” and “peplum tops” followed by “2012 called-it wants it’s done-to-death look back”. OUCH…ha ha! I haven’t worn either in at least 6 months but I still have both in my closet and could have totally been guilty of wearing either any day now. Also included was “waterfall cardigans” which I just so happened to wear this weekend so I guess I’ll be throwing this vest in the trash now. Joking…of course.

P.S. I will, however, be adding my bubble necklaces & that holographic clutch that I bought and never used to my Poshmark closet soon. Don’t all rush at once to snag ’em. =)

Grammys 2014 Best Dressed

Is it just me or was the Grammy fashion very tame this year? I was expecting to see a little more daring rock & roll looks…more leather…less lace. But the ladies seriously stunned on the red carpet last night! I mean, with gowns like these, I’m expecting full-on Cinderella ballgowns for the Oscars! The biggest trend of the evening was yet again gorgeous metallics. Ciara & Chrissy Teigen looked like golden goddesses but Taylor Swift’s dress takes my vote for best look of the night! Her dress looked like it was made from delicate chain metal (almost like something a knight would wear) but it was GLAM GLAM GLAM. And her makeup was flawless. My girl Giuliana can do not wrong…OBSESSED with her gorgeous orange lace number! Has she rocked award season or what?!? I also couldn’t help but fall in LOVE with Alicia Keys dress. Black & cobalt is one of my fave color combos so today I decided to use Alicia’s look as inspiration for my “One of a Kind” daytime look:

P.S. My #Grammys twitter feed had me cracking up all night. The @fuggirls commentary was hilarious. There seemed to be an ill-fitting hat contest going on last night and Pharrell won! In fact, it only took like 2.2 seconds for Pharrell’s hat to get it’s own twitter account.

ROCK Velvet Manicure

As promised, here is my Nail Rock velvet manicure from my January Birchbox! I had been wanting to try a velvet manicure forever so I was super excited to find it in my box. Unfortunately the results were less than stellar. In it’s defense…this was my first attempt so maybe it would turn out better the next time. The directions seemed easy enough…apply two coats of polish and then dip your nails into the velvet. Well, what they don’t tell you is that the little pot of velvet is actually rock hard so the fuzz was only really sticking to the tips of my nails. Also, by the time I got to my pinky nail…the polish was even drier (which means even less velvet sticking). So in a last ditch effort, I pinched some out of the little pot and pressed it into the areas that were bare. Then I waited the recommended 20 minutes for dry time. But after I washed my hands to get all of the excess velvet off, it ended up looking like I had just painted my nails and gone to bed with them wet. So yeah…fail. Not sure I will take the time to give it another go but just goes to prove that trying new products via Birchbox is worth the $10/mo subscription. On a positive note, I did love the color of the polish!

Well, instead of working on my blog post tonight we watched THREE episodes of Breaking Bad. We are on season four and every episode is so good that we HAVE to watch another one. I never thought I would be hooked on this show but I am. I can’t believe there is only one more season left! At the rate we are going, we may very well finish the series up this weekend. So now it is almost midnight and instead of sleeping, I am googling the top series to rent on Netflix. Have a great weekend friends!!!

For the past six months, I’ve been on a major bootie shopping spree. But now that Spring is in the air (ok, it’s still a couple of months away), I can’t stop buying gladiator sandals! I’ve already purchased these and these but now I’m thinking I may take the plunge and go for these! I’m not the only one already shopping for Spring…am I???
