Sauza Sparkling Margaritas

Summer has officially begun so a couple of my girlfriends and I decided it was high time to GET THE PARTY STARTED! We hadn’t hung out just the three of us, without our kids, in FOREVER. So I was super excited to throw a little “Sparkling Margarita” party and give each one of the new Sauza sparkling margarita’s a try! They are THE first ever “ready to serve” sparkling margaritas (carbonated…obvi). I picked up all three flavors: Original Lime, Mango Peach and Wild Berry. BTW…these things are flying off the shelf…I went to three different Target stores to find all three flavors because they were sold out. Thankfully, I really did use Sauza’s location finder so I didn’t have to drive all over the place looking for them. Oh, and I even busted out my $18 “Why limit happy to an hour” napkins. My husband just wants to know why I’m not going into business for myself making napkins that cost $18. LOL! I gave him a little shot glass taste test trio (with a fancy napkin, of course) and then just us girls headed up to the gazebo for a sunset toast.

If you follow me on instagram, then you may already know that we just got a Polaris Ranger (you kind of need one where we live for hauling stuff and it’s a pretty cool ride for our annual 4th of July parade). But, PLEASE NOTE that I DO NOT drink and drive. This was a just a fun quick ride up the hill (on our property) so I could show the girls the view and they had a quick toast before we headed down.

Girls NIght In

For snacks I made one of my fave dips…a 7 layer dip (ok, it was only 5 layers this time) but I made it in cute individual margarita glasses after finding the idea on Pinterest! Seriously, WHAT did we do before Pinterest? And, for a healthier snack I also had hummus & pita chips and grapes. Which also gave me a chance to use my new salsa & hummus bowls. LOL. It was a perfect girls night…my cheeks hurt from laughing and the sparkling margarita’s may have gone down just a little too easy! My fave was the mixed berry but they were all good! So what are you waiting for…grab your girls and get the party started! =)

Birchbox Review June 2013

Birchbox Review

This month’s Birchbox was full of treats to get you ready for summer travels. And it truly was full of items I WILL be throwing in my travel toiletry bag! Here’s what I got:

Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk: Made with softening oat milk extracts, plus corn and rice starches, this ultra-fine powder spray leaves nary a trace of residue behind. It performs a heroic array of functions. For starters, it soaks up oil and sweat from your roots and helps revive second day hair. Next, it amps up volume and helps extend the life of blowouts. You can also use it as a texturing aide when you’re trying to perfect a tricky updo.

Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser: Natural lemongrass and chamomile team up with synthetic-free cosmecutical actives to thoroughly clean skin. At the same time, the alpha hydroxy acids in raw sugar gently buff away dead layers and excess oils without stripping off your skin’s natural moisture.

SW Basics Lip Balm Flights: SW Basics uses select organic and fair trade ingredients to create all their highly potent balms. The base of each flavor is a simple but potent compound of natural wax, coconut oil, and cocoa butter. Fewer additives mean less irritation, making this handmade balm ideal for sensitive skin.

Tweezerman Filemate: This thick emery board has a gritty side to shape nails and file down any breaks or snags, plus a smoother face to gently finish nail edges. Our favorite part? It comes in a little plastic case so the file won’t damage your sunglasses, jewelry, or any of the other delicate items in your purse.

Color Club Wanderlust Collection: Each color is named after one of Birchbox’s international headquarters: Barcelona, London, New York, and Paris. London Calling, a sunny green, makes us think of the city’s myriad green spaces, while the fiery coral of Reign in Spain evokes summer days under the Mediterranean sun. Pardon My French’s lavender represents our love affair with the candy-colored arrays of macarons in the City of Light’s iconic bakeries. Finally, there’s Mod in Manhattan, a brilliant off-white that represents the glow of the mega-watt city at night.

Surprisingly, one of my fave items was the “extra” item which was the cute postcards in the last pic.  Actually I kind of loved this whole box.

Kyle Richards

RHOBH

I SWEAR I am not a real housewife stalker (although I just met Gretchen Rossi last week). LOL. Admittedly, I am a huge fan of RHOOC & RHOBH (in fact those are the only ones I watch of the housewife series) but this was a totally random event. I just happened to be searching youtube for tutorials on how to apply concealer without creasing (which I think you just have to have no creases to begin with…pfffsshhhh) and then one of those annoying pop-ups (that you have to wait like 10 seconds to close) popped up saying Kyle would be at a local Living Spaces that is like 15min from my house! RANDOM, right? Of course I had to go! My mom met me there along with my girlfriend Melissa and we were first in line. Kyle was absolutely gorgeous in person and THAT hair…no fair. Luckily they had books there for purchase so I had her autograph it and asked the same question I always ask everyone…WHAT EYE CREAM DO YOU USE? lol. She highly recommended Epicuren products and said she just buys it from the beauty supply store. So naturally it will be my next purchase. =) Oh, and I also won a $500 gift card from Living Spaces. So I’d say it was a pretty good random day.

P.S. I am linking up with one of my new blog crushes, Because Shanna Said So today for “Random Wednesday”! She is also having a $50 Jcrew giveaway so head on over and say hi!

Today I am SO excited to share that I am participating in the London Times “savvy in your city” summer campaign. Each of the bloggers participating were asked to share their fave hot spots in their hometown giving you guys the ultimate insiders guide this summer. I am born and raised in southern California (San Diego) so I thought I would share some of my favorite “local” spots in a little beach town called Cardiff by the Sea, CA.

savvy summer london times

Almost every weekend, we drive to Cardiff to get my favorite donuts in the whole wide world at VG’s Bakery. I mean, these donuts make Crispy Kremes seem like day old donuts (IMHO). In fact, my husband makes fun of me because I always say the donuts are “hot & fresh”. There is always a line out the door because they are THAT good. BTW, I also got my wedding cake made here.

If donuts aren’t your thing, then you may want to check out Pipes Cafe. They have THE BEST breakfast burritos ever. I’ve never driven past when there wasn’t a line here either. They are totally worth the wait though. Promise.

While you are in town, you have to drive by the “Cardiff Kook” to see how he has been dressed up that day. The locals have never been a fan of this statue so he has been dressed up in grass skirts, been eaten by a paper mache great white shark and even starred in a Harlem shake video. Oh, and he even has his own calendar. We did the Cardiff crawl just yesterday and he had a basketball mask and a happy father’s day sign on. I always wonder if there is like a sign up sheet or something for who gets to dress him up that day.

My husbands fave place to go in Cardiff is Las Olas Mexican restaurant. I do not eat shellfish but he RAVES about their lobster tacos and begs me to go whenever they are in season. I go for the margaritas! =) And the ocean is literally across the street.
