Tres Chic

SoCal finally got the message that it’s Fall so I’m pulling out all of my sweaters, including this striped sweater from cabi’s newest collection “Penny Lane Lovely“. And you can never go wrong with subtle print mixing. Stripes and leopard are one of my fave combos. How about you? Are you a print mixer? If it seems a little too adventurous for you, try sticking with similar colors as I’ve done here!

I’ve been fighting a cold for over a week now and I swear every year I forget how awful it is to be sick! But I’m finally feeling human again today, thank goodness! We’ve got lots of Halloween festivities lined up so I am actually glad I got the sickness out of the way so I don’t have to miss out on any of the fun. I snapped these pics last week and I just have to share how unbelievably comfy this jumpsuit is. I know a lot of people aren’t huge fans of jumpsuits but I gotta tell you that this one feels like a onsie that you can wear in public. It is made of the softest french terry material and takes the athleisure trend to a new level! I could live in it, I tell ya!

Is there anything better than an outfit that can take you from school drop off, to errands/meetings and more but is comfortable enough to take a nap in? Let me introduce you to FashionABLE. Well, technically they are now just called ABLE. And let me tell you why.

ABLE is a lifestyle brand focused on ending generational poverty by working with women who have often overcome extraordinary circumstances. They manufacture directly in the communities they wish to impact, both locally and globally, creating jobs and ending the cycle of charity dependency.

ABLE’s Fall Collection was designed around women on the go with the idea that your outfits should move with you no matter where your day takes you. ABLE defines their apparel by three standards – quality, comfort & style. And I am here to tell you that you can count on all three of those things. I was recently given the opportunity to style a look using a few of my favorite pieces from the collection so I chose pieces that I knew would be wardrobe staples for years to come. Here’s what I chose:

The Western Shirt: My usual size (small) was sold out so I went with the XS and I’m glad I did because this ran a little big so I would recommend sizing down unless you want more of a boyfriend fit. But the weight of the material is perfect and I love the pearl snaps & raw edge hem.

The Skinny Jeans (in Angie Wash): Talk about comfortable. These jeans are so soft that you could actually lay down in nap in them. I’m serious. They aren’t a “jegging” (meaning SUPER skinny) so they fit just right in all the right places. I ordered my regular size 27.

Miriam Mules: I have had the worst luck with mules…until now. Every pair I have tried are either too wide, too narrow or just won’t stay on my feet when I walk. NOT THESE. They are so comfortable AND stayed on my feet! They also come in leopard (which I REALLY want now), nude and olive.

Fozi Foldover Clutch: This clutch is made of the softest leather and is large enough to carry all of your essentials. You can use it as a clutch or if you need even more room, you can carry it by the gold circle handles as more of a tote! It also comes in black or mustard yellow.

My necklace is not by ABLE but it is available here.

If you are looking to add staple pieces (all of which would be perfect for a capsule wardrobe) to your closet, do yourself a favor and check out ABLE. You can also feel good knowing that through your purchase, you are ABLE to empower women and give them a job with dignity.

“In my experience, poor people are the world’s greatest entrepreneurs. Every day, they must innovate in order to survive. They remain poor because they do not have the opportunities to turn their creativity into sustainable income.” – MUHAMMAD YUNUS, AUTHOR OF Creating a World Without Poverty
Disclosure: ABLE gifted me articles of clothing in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Last week I attended a gala at the brand new Nordstrom located within Westfield UTC. The gala benefited two  local charities, Promises 2 Kids and Voices for Children and raised over $150,000 for children in foster care. We were among the first to step foot (and shop!) in the brand new 145,000 sq ft, two level store. It was an evening of fashion, cocktails, food, mingling and of course shopping! The new store features a ton of new brands (including 8 designer boutiques…I’m talking Chloe, Gucci, Valentino and more!), a beauty concierge for customer questions & booking appointments (new brands include Tom Ford, Charlotte Tilbury & more!) and two in-house dining options: Bazille, a full-service restaurant and bar; and Ebar which is more of an on-the-go menu/espresso bar. Some new shopping features are the option to reserve items online and try on in-store as well as the option to buy online with curbside pickup! YES, please!

About five minutes after arriving though, I realized I had made a horrible mistake in wearing one of my most uncomfortable pair of heels I own. Which turned into a good thing because I convinced my hubby I needed these Schutz heels (the pair I’m wearing in all of the pics) that I quickly purchased and changed into. He enjoyed a shoe shine at the shoe shine stand while I made the quick change! I think the mannequin in the pic above (left) had the right idea by pairing a dress with Vans!

One thing that also stood out to me was how AMAZING the lighting was! I don’t know about you, but I am MUCH more likely to make a purchase if the lighting is flattering! And the dressing rooms have the coolest little lounge areas.

While we were there, I ran into a few of my fellow Westfield UTC blogging buddies (Danielle from City Girl Gone Mom & Jennifer of Style Your Life) so of course we did a photo shoot right in front of the “live” models. And a few (ok, like ten) boomerangs as well!

Be sure and stop by the new Nordstrom at Westfield UTC. You are going to LOVE it…pinky promise.

Outfit Details: BB Dakota Dress c/o Shopbop (more sizes available here), BlankNYC Faux Leather Moto Jacket (sold out in black but available in other colors here, super similar option in black here), Schutz Heels, Bracelet & Ring c/o LAGOS

Thank you kindly to Westfield UTC for sponsoring my blog & to Nordstrom for providing the tickets to attend the gala. As always, all opinions are my own.
