Anyone else think we completely skipped over Fall and are already in Winter!?! Seriously…when is the first day of Winter? Because I’m calling it today…lol. I even played Christmas music this afternoon while taking my pics. This past weekend I snapped family photos for a friend of mine and some of the cutest pics were of them on this log. So of course I tried snapping some pics of me by it. It’s crazy how much better photos turn out when someone is behind the camera vs. me using my tripod & remote (as I did here). I’m so excited to see which one(s) they picked for their Christmas card!

Velvet

Am I the only person who never read the Velveteen Rabbit as a kid? When I was giving this post a title, Velveteen Rabbit came to mind so I looked it up on Wikipedia. And I almost cried just thinking of the poor old toy wanting to become real through the love of the little boy he belonged to! I must get this book asap! And now that I binge watched Big Little Lies, I need that book too! Although I have a terrible habit of buying books, reading about half and then leaving them unfinished on my nightstand. Please tell me I’m not the only one? Anywho…last year I purchased a velvet blazer and I was worried that the trend wouldn’t stick around. Boy, was I wrong! And now I’ve added this velvet burnout tee and jacket from cabi’s brand new collection Regent Regal available tomorrow (11/7/17)! The rich navy hue is SO pretty and both are perfect for the upcoming holiday season.

Tres Chic

SoCal finally got the message that it’s Fall so I’m pulling out all of my sweaters, including this striped sweater from cabi’s newest collection “Penny Lane Lovely“. And you can never go wrong with subtle print mixing. Stripes and leopard are one of my fave combos. How about you? Are you a print mixer? If it seems a little too adventurous for you, try sticking with similar colors as I’ve done here!

I’ve been fighting a cold for over a week now and I swear every year I forget how awful it is to be sick! But I’m finally feeling human again today, thank goodness! We’ve got lots of Halloween festivities lined up so I am actually glad I got the sickness out of the way so I don’t have to miss out on any of the fun. I snapped these pics last week and I just have to share how unbelievably comfy this jumpsuit is. I know a lot of people aren’t huge fans of jumpsuits but I gotta tell you that this one feels like a onsie that you can wear in public. It is made of the softest french terry material and takes the athleisure trend to a new level! I could live in it, I tell ya!

Is there anything better than an outfit that can take you from school drop off, to errands/meetings and more but is comfortable enough to take a nap in? Let me introduce you to FashionABLE. Well, technically they are now just called ABLE. And let me tell you why.

ABLE is a lifestyle brand focused on ending generational poverty by working with women who have often overcome extraordinary circumstances. They manufacture directly in the communities they wish to impact, both locally and globally, creating jobs and ending the cycle of charity dependency.

ABLE’s Fall Collection was designed around women on the go with the idea that your outfits should move with you no matter where your day takes you. ABLE defines their apparel by three standards – quality, comfort & style. And I am here to tell you that you can count on all three of those things. I was recently given the opportunity to style a look using a few of my favorite pieces from the collection so I chose pieces that I knew would be wardrobe staples for years to come. Here’s what I chose:

The Western Shirt: My usual size (small) was sold out so I went with the XS and I’m glad I did because this ran a little big so I would recommend sizing down unless you want more of a boyfriend fit. But the weight of the material is perfect and I love the pearl snaps & raw edge hem.

The Skinny Jeans (in Angie Wash): Talk about comfortable. These jeans are so soft that you could actually lay down in nap in them. I’m serious. They aren’t a “jegging” (meaning SUPER skinny) so they fit just right in all the right places. I ordered my regular size 27.

Miriam Mules: I have had the worst luck with mules…until now. Every pair I have tried are either too wide, too narrow or just won’t stay on my feet when I walk. NOT THESE. They are so comfortable AND stayed on my feet! They also come in leopard (which I REALLY want now), nude and olive.

Fozi Foldover Clutch: This clutch is made of the softest leather and is large enough to carry all of your essentials. You can use it as a clutch or if you need even more room, you can carry it by the gold circle handles as more of a tote! It also comes in black or mustard yellow.

My necklace is not by ABLE but it is available here.

If you are looking to add staple pieces (all of which would be perfect for a capsule wardrobe) to your closet, do yourself a favor and check out ABLE. You can also feel good knowing that through your purchase, you are ABLE to empower women and give them a job with dignity.

“In my experience, poor people are the world’s greatest entrepreneurs. Every day, they must innovate in order to survive. They remain poor because they do not have the opportunities to turn their creativity into sustainable income.” – MUHAMMAD YUNUS, AUTHOR OF Creating a World Without Poverty
