LAGOS Mother's Day Wish List

Mother’s Day is right around the corner (May 8th) and it just so happens that my birthday is two days later this year. So you better believe this mama is going to milk the “it’s my birthday/it’s mother’s day” excuse for an entire week! I’ve been dropping hints to my hubby about how I’d like to spend the day…brunch and maybe a half day at the spa sounds like heaven. I’ve also been searching high and low for a piece of jewelry that has our son’s birthstone in it. And then I remembered the LAGOS Maya Stacking Rings! I am wearing the howlite doublet Maya ring in my pics above, but it is also available in the lapis stone which is very similar in color to the sapphire. These rings were made to layer and I’m pretty sure I just found the perfect stack! I’ve mentioned it before but I have to say again that I love how all of the pieces from LAGOS can be mixed and matched so beautifully. You can see my previous posts here and here. If you are still looking for a gift for your mom, I’ve shared some of my favorite LAGOS pieces below:

Almost a year ago one of my girlfriends bought me a one week pass to join The Bar Method. I enjoyed it so much that I put my regular gym membership on hold and joined. It was triple the cost but I was amazed at how much it strengthened my core and improved my flexibility. And who doesn’t want to feel like a ballerina?!? But if I am being completely honest, I started missing the variety of classes that are offered at a traditional gym. And I’m not sure I was getting enough cardio by doing only barre classes. I mean, I will throw in a workout dvd here and there and do sprints/lunges on our hillside, but that’s about it. And I am not a runner…even though I tried desperately to become one by doing Stroller Strides for 2+ years! So when I heard that an Equinox was opening even closer to home AND they offered THREE types of barre classes (and so many other class options), I was sold. I’ve already taken their gold barre class which is actually ice skating moves inspired by Tara Lipinski so there is a lot of jumping (hooray for cardio) and tomorrow I am trying the body sculpt class!

P.S. I have to tell you that these tennis shoes are THE MOST comfortable running shoes I have ever purchased. They are shockingly light and were SO comfy that I wanted to wear them right out of the store. I am usually a size 7 but I sized up in these a half size and the 7 1/2 fits perfect. Plus they are SUPER cute!

Oops! I shared this look on Instagram last week with full intentions of posting it here on the blog but COMPLETELY spaced and forgot to push publish. And then we had such a fun-filled weekend that I never even got on my blog to check! If you haven’t already, you can sign up over there in the upper right hand corner to have any new posts emailed to you so you don’t miss a thing. I usually share sneak peeks on Instagram before anything makes it to the blog. And behind the scenes and more personal posts usually get shared on snapchat (you can find me @stylishhwife). But anyway…back to this outfit! This dress is from CAbi’s Spring collection “Andiamo” and I’m loving the built-in print mixing. I am a fan of drop-waist styles but this time I decided to mix things up and add a belt to give it a little more shape. Plus…for what I paid for this belt, I figured I better wear it as much as possible to make it worth the price tag…lol.

La Quinta Desert

It supposedly only rains in Palm Springs ten days out of the year. As luck would have it, we somehow caught four of those days this past weekend! We also got rain last year! How is that even possible? Maybe I should play the lottery. But the good news is, when it rains in the desert, it doesn’t last long. We usually go on long bike rides and eat and/or drink at some of our favorite outdoor restaurants. But because of the weather, we did most of our sight seeing by car. This time we finally found the pink door house, visited the botanical gardens, checked out a few new hotels and even popped into a few open houses.

P.S. As most of you know, Coachella kicks off this weekend! If you are still looking for something cute to wear…look no further than Swirl Boutique! They have all of your festival fashion needs and have a shop in Encinitas and San Clemente. They will also do free shipping on orders over $100…you can call 760-753-0870 to order. I picked up this matching Olivaceous skirt and top last week. It looks like a dress but they are separates! I’m thinking of wearing the skirt with a white tee and booties next time.

This year was my third time attending a show at Fashion Week El Paseo. My husband and I had SO much fun the first year that we have now made it an annual tradition. Last year I was covering the event for my blog and showed up to the event with my camera but had left my battery charging back at the hotel. Thank goodness I had my fully charged iphone! This year my husband had the party fouls and realized he had left his suit at home while we were getting ready. We normally don’t get that dressed up in the desert but fashion week is always a good excuse to get dressed up and make a night of it. Oh, and then as soon as we got to the event, he realized he left his ticket back at the hotel! LOL. Thankfully he had purchased his ticket with a credit card so they were able to give him a replacement ticket! After that debacle, we were ready to get the fun started! The shows always start off with a fun cocktail reception which also provides some of the best people watching.

Zandra Rhodes

This year we attended the Zandra Rhodes show and once again I was so honored to be given front row access. The best seat in the house if you ask me…right at the end of the runway. This time I had my camera and iphone in hand and I was even posting live snaps (that’s snapchat…for my mom…and any others who don’t know what “snaps” are =)). Dame Zandra Rhodes is known for her textile designs and was once dubbed the “Princess of Punk”. The models all wore fun colorful wigs to match Rhodes colorful designs. It was a super fun vibe but the wedding gown at the end was simply stunning! You can check out some of my faves below:

Karen Barone

We ran into Karen Barone again this year so of course I had to snap a quick pic with her. This outfit was much more tame than years past. She and her husband are always so sweet and a delight to talk to. I mean, did you really go to Fashion Week El Paseo if you don’t get a pic with Karen? I think not! =)
