Chaser Brand Henley

Chaser Brand Striped Henley Tee

We had one of the busiest weekends we’ve had in a very long time. Friday night my husband hosted his monthly poker game. Saturday we had two back to back 5 year old birthday parties (one pumpkin patch princess party and then a Star Wars party). Then on Sunday we ran/hiked a 5k trail run in the morning followed by our annual Spooktacular event at the local fire station afterwards. I’m not sure who was more exhausted come Sunday night…me, my hubby or our 5 year old.

Today I am excited to share a new series on the blog called “6 Ways to Wear”. Every other Friday, myself & five other bloggers (seen below) will be sharing six ways to wear a trend. First up is the fringe trend! One of my favorite  trends of the season! While I’ve been known to wear major fringe (last seen here), I also love to spice my outfits up with just fringe accents. My fringe clutch is one of my favorites at the moment. I think I’ve worn (wait…would you say “wear” a purse?) it non-stop for at least the last month. You can see other ways I’ve worn fringe here and here.

Be sure and check out how Megan // Kacie // Jackie // Alex // Tiffany wore fringe.

I’ve been complaining non-stop about the heat wave and begging for sweater weather but after almost a week of gloomy/humid weather, I was ECSTATIC to see a little sunshine yesterday. I can deal with cold temps all day long but take away my sunshine and I go all seasonal affective disorder in about 2.3 seconds. Although it was SO nice to FINALLY bust out my new Andre Assous over the knee boots! I’ve had them for over a month but you look a little ridiculous in OTK boots when it’s 90 degrees out so I’ve just been admiring them in their box until now. Last year I splurged on a black leather pair so this year I decided to go with brown suede. The website said to order a 1/2 size up but I think I could have gotten away with ordering my usual size. But other than that, they hit perfectly above my knee and are super cute on. Oh, and did I mention that they’re on sale?!? If you’re still searching for boots, check ’em out!

Golden Tote

Golden Tote Embroidered Beaded Blouse

If you’ve been a reader for a while, then you already know that I am a fan of Golden Tote. For those of you who are new here and/or maybe haven’t heard about Golden Tote, it is sort of like a grab bag full of clothes! Each month Golden Tote offers three different totes ($49, $99 and $149). With the $49 tote, you get to pick one item and they will surprise you with one additional item. With the $149 tote, you get to pick two items and they surprise you with 3 or 4 additional items. The $99 tote is a newer option where you can let the Golden Tote stylists pick four items for you from their secret collection based on your style profile so it is a complete surprise! The most exciting part to me is that the surprise items are not usually items that were in the collection you chose from so they REALLY are a total surprise.

This month I selected the $149 option and chose this embroidered/beaded blouse and this lightweight military vest as my two pieces. And I received FOUR additional surprise items…an ADORABLE chunky knit sweater/poncho, a floral blouse (that is totally my style), a beaded detail tank and a lightweight printed dress (perfect for a beach coverup). Unfortunately our weather is not cooperating and it’s been super muggy/dreary/drizzly and just downright ugly out (hence the weird lighting in my pics) so I haven’t been able to photograph the surprise items yet. But I wanted to share at least the two items I chose and I promise to follow up with a separate post sharing the remaining items later this week!

P.S. Each month the totes have a different design on them but this one has to be my fave! I LOVE sugar skulls! Oh, and they also include little flashcards with styling ideas for the items you selected in each tote.

Old Navy Rock Star Jeans

I know my Southern California friends are wondering how the heck I am wearing sweaters & jeans in this heat wave but it’s for the LOVE of Fall fashion my friends. Old Navy has SO many cute poncho’s right now that I had to stock up now before they sell out! This geo print poncho is more of a sweater with buttons on the side so you have actual armholes. I wore a plain cream tank under it, but it would also be cute with a thin turtleneck under it when (IF) the temps ever decide to drop.

Old Navy Poncho

This wrap poncho doesn’t have armholes/sleeves so it is more like a blanket wrap but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the print. It is also totally reversible. The other side has the same print but it is light gray with the same print in black. Oh, and I finally found the perfect pair of Rockstar Skinnies. I think I’ve been trying the regular Rockstar Skinnies but the SUPER skinnies fit my calves/ankles so much better!
