On Repeat

Kimono

Tory Burch Aviators

denim cut-offs

This weekend my husband’s best friend from high school and his wife came to visit us from Philadelphia. It was a weekend of great food, great drinks and great company. And we even fit in a game of scrabble. We hadn’t played in YEARS but now that we are done with season 3 of OITNB, I think we’ve found our new (old) favorite pastime!

A few months ago I participated in an IG loop giveaway and was introduced to Jenny Collier’s namesake lifestyle blog. Not only is she a gorgeous momma of two beautiful children, but she is also a former photographer who now offers online courses to teach other moms how to use their fancy DSLR cameras! Oh, and did I mention she also just opened an adorable online clothing boutique called Gray Monroe (named after her kids, of course!). Gray Monroe offers a great mix of bohemian, classic and on-trend pieces so there is something for everyone! Jenny graciously asked me to style a few pieces from her shop and today I am kicking things off with the gray striped mikah maxi dress (ONLY $35!!! also comes in navy stripes). My first thought was that this dress would be so perfect to throw on for preschool dropoff/pickup days! But then I threw a blazer on over it and actually liked the casual/business vibe going on, so I went with it!  What do you guys think?!?

We’ve been having the craziest tropical weather here in Southern CA. It’s been SO hot and SO humid and then all of a sudden yesterday we had a FULL day of rain. But by the end of the week, we are expecting temps in the upper 80’s again! So as much as I want to start pulling out my jeans, sweaters & boots…it looks like I am going to have to keep trying to put a Fall spin on my Summer favorites.

P.S. Unfortunately all of the items I’m wearing today are sold out or no longer available (well, except the watch & fringe clutch) but I did finally update my “Shop With Me” page to include a roundup of my favorite Summer to Fall transitional pieces! Check it out here.

Oh, and I almost forgot! It’s Wednesday Linkup Day! Please feel free to add your #ootd to the linkup below. All I ask is that you link back to The Stylish Housewife in your post. Unfortunately, brands promoting their online boutiques will be removed from the linkup. I can’t wait to see what you guys are wearing!

OMG you guys…remember how I told you that my husband and I are obsessed with Orange is the New Black? We are on the third season and only have like four more episodes to watch! I am already depressed knowing that we will have to wait until next year for season 4! UGH. So I bought myself this tank as an homage to my favorite show. Not even sure I’m using that word right (it’s past my bed time AGAIN)…but you know what I mean. Also, this month’s Fabletics collection was dance-inspired so think lots of lace, strappy details and romantic prints. Which was perfect for me since I am still loving my barre classes! Have you tried Fabletics yet? You can learn more and/or sign up here.

FLARES…

Flares

With this crazy heat wave we’ve been having, there is absolutely NO WAY I am getting anywhere near a blow dryer. So instead of posting pics of me looking like a literal HOT MESS, I decided to share a few ways I’ve worn flared jeans here on the blog. You know, people always say…if you haven’t worn it/them in over a year, then you should get rid of it/them. I will never believe this…hence the reason I am a bit of a hoarder when it comes to clothing…but I digress. Some of the jeans above are new-ish and one of them (bottom left) are probably close to ten years old. All of them are still in my closet but I just added this pair to the mix just last week. They aren’t too flared…more of a modern flare/bootcut. A few of the older styles I have are too loose above the knee and I personally prefer them to be a little more fitted. So these fit the bill. Now all I need is for the temp to drop at least 10-20 degrees so I can wear them!
