OMG you guys…remember how I told you that my husband and I are obsessed with Orange is the New Black? We are on the third season and only have like four more episodes to watch! I am already depressed knowing that we will have to wait until next year for season 4! UGH. So I bought myself this tank as an homage to my favorite show. Not even sure I’m using that word right (it’s past my bed time AGAIN)…but you know what I mean. Also, this month’s Fabletics collection was dance-inspired so think lots of lace, strappy details and romantic prints. Which was perfect for me since I am still loving my barre classes! Have you tried Fabletics yet? You can learn more and/or sign up here.

FLARES…

Flares

With this crazy heat wave we’ve been having, there is absolutely NO WAY I am getting anywhere near a blow dryer. So instead of posting pics of me looking like a literal HOT MESS, I decided to share a few ways I’ve worn flared jeans here on the blog. You know, people always say…if you haven’t worn it/them in over a year, then you should get rid of it/them. I will never believe this…hence the reason I am a bit of a hoarder when it comes to clothing…but I digress. Some of the jeans above are new-ish and one of them (bottom left) are probably close to ten years old. All of them are still in my closet but I just added this pair to the mix just last week. They aren’t too flared…more of a modern flare/bootcut. A few of the older styles I have are too loose above the knee and I personally prefer them to be a little more fitted. So these fit the bill. Now all I need is for the temp to drop at least 10-20 degrees so I can wear them!

Yesterday it was 86 degrees in my house and 93 outside. And it’s supposed to be even warmer the next couple of days. On a positive note, I think I may have finally convinced my husband that WE NEED AIR CONDITIONING. I hate to complain about warm weather because I LIVE for sunny days. But I am starting to get just a teensy bit envious of all of the cute Fall fashion I am seeing on the blogosphere! Ssshhhhh…who said that? I think the heat is getting to me. =)

P.S. It is Wednesday Linkup Day! Please feel free to add your #ootd to the linkup below. All I ask is that you link back to The Stylish Housewife in your post. Unfortunately, brands promoting their online boutiques will be removed from the linkup. I can’t wait to see what you guys are wearing!

Oh you know, just another casual outfit to run to the store in. Kidding. Actually I was trying on outfits trying to figure out what to wear out for date night this weekend and decided to snap a few pics for the blog. I think we have a winner. Although even when I think I know what I’m wearing for a night out, I usually still end up changing last minute and running out the door with a pile of clothes on the floor behind me. Ha! Hope you guys have a wonderful weekend!

Wear It Now Wear It Later

Last week I took my son to Chuck E. Cheese for an end of Summer play date with one of his best buddies. It tests every ounce of my patience to go there but he loves it so I give in. Btw, it still bums me out that the Rock-afire Explosion band is no longer a thing…I always thought Mitzi Mozzarella was SO cool! At least the pizza is better than I remember it being when I was a kid. But my point of telling this story was that there is an Old Navy right next door. I made a deal with Eep that if we went to Chuck E. Cheese for him, he would have to be a good boy while we did a little back to school shopping for him after. Surprisingly, he usually holds up his end of the deal very well. After we found a few things for him, I did a quick once over for me. I grabbed this hat & this cute bag and we hurried to the end of the checkout line. And then JUST as I was about to walk up to the register, I saw this adorable romper on a rack and I made the split decision to just buy it without trying it on. You might remember that I mentioned before that sizing is always a little wonky for me at Old Navy so it was a little risky but for the price…I couldn’t pass it up. The print/colors were calling my name and I was beyond thrilled when I got home and it fit JUST RIGHT. Can you say meant to be?

Southern CA seems to have just gotten the memo that it is Summer so while I’m still able to wear rompers & sandals, some of you guys are already experiencing Fall weather. So I decided to do a little “Wear It Now, Wear It Later” feature and show you how I will be transitioning my Summer favorites into Fall looks.
