I’ve always loved blogs that offer writing prompts. Because to be honest, the hardest thing about blogging (for me) is coming up with something to say each day. I’ve been blogging for four and a half years now and I’m pretty sure I repeat myself at least once a week. Which might just be my old age. =) But my point is, I like answering questions so if there is anything you’ve ever wanted to know (besides my address…people have asked…seriously), feel free to leave it in the comments and I would love to answer!

Today I am linking up with Mix & Match Family for #whatsupwednesday. Because…writing prompts. =) So here goes nothing:

What we’re eating this week: OMG, I dread Mondays because it’s the day I do our grocery shopping. And it feels like Groundhog’s Day EVERY time because I get the SAME ol’ things each week. Every week I make my spicy pasta, talapia/rice/veggies, chicken/mashed potatoes /veggies, tacos or burritos. And then the rest of the week we kind of just wing it. I wish I could be one of those moms that have it together and meal prep everything for the whole week!

What I’m reminiscing about: WARM WEATHER. SUNNY SKIES. May gray is KILLING me.

What I’m loving: Right now I am obsessed with Soludos! My husband surprised me with two pair and I just bought myself a third pair! Get a sneak peek on my Instagram feed. BTW, I would definitely recommend sizing up. They run small.

What we’ve been up to: After the long holiday weekend, we all feel a little off schedule.

What I’m dreading: Appointments, appointments and more appointments. Even trips to the hair salon feel like a chore since I have to go so often to keep these greys covered. But this week I’ve also got a doctors appointment for a nagging issue (nothing serious) and it gets frustrating to go to the doctor/specialist, etc. and still have no answers.

What I’m working on: Um, I am scrambling to get these questions answered and my post up before midnight! Did I say I like writing prompts? Scratch that…I like answering ONE question at a time in detail. LOL.

What I’m excited about: I just joined The Bar Method! I’ve only gone twice but I am hooked!

What I’m watching/reading: The Bachelorette. OMG. I stopped watching The Bachelor after Brad Womack was the bachelor but somehow I got sucked back in last season. So of course I HAD to see who the bachelorette was. I liked both Britt and Kaitlyn but I’m happy Kaitlyn won. It most definitely looks like it’s going to be the #mostdramaticseasonever.

What I’m listening to: I honestly rarely listen to music anymore. I used to always listen to music in the car but now I prefer to chat with Eep the whole time. And on the rare occasion I am alone, I enjoy the silence. But the song I can’t get out of my head is “Sugar” by Maroon 5.

What I’m wearing: I figured I would give the deets on my outfit above for this one. I actually bought the jacket from a resale shop. It is Elizabeth & James and was originally $495 but I got it for less than $60! So even though it is a little big on me, I just couldn’t pass up the deal! The sunglasses (Mango), shoes (ASOS) and tank (Knot Sisters) are all old. The jeans are new but I’m not in love with them. They are my second pair from Madewell and I think I’ve finally figured out what bugs me about them. The jeans fit perfect everywhere else but the calves are baggy on me! Wonder if I could take them in to be tailored? Otherwise I LOVE the high waist on them. You can check them out here.

What I’m doing this weekend: Absolutely nothing. Hopefully.

What I’m looking forward to next month: My husband turns 50 (FIFTY) next month AND it’s our annual 4th of July parade. You can see pics from years past here, here & here.

What else is new: Not a whole heck of a lot. Summer is right around the corner and I am worried about how I am going to keep Eep entertained each day without school three days a week! Is anyone else SHOCKED at how fast this year has gone by?

P.S. Don’t forget to link up YOUR fashion related post below. The only requirement is that you must link back to The Stylish Housewife. I can’t wait to see what you’re wearing!

Distressed Denim Skirt

Tory Burch Aviators

Hip hip hooray! I FINALLY found a denim skirt I love. I’ve got one that is too short and another one that is too long. This one feels jusssssst right (#goldilocks). I actually found this one on our last trip to Palm Desert. It’s a little pricier than I had hoped for but I figure anything denim is usually an investment piece that will last a while. So now I just need to get that cost per wear ratio down…and we are golden. =) Due to the holiday weekend, I may or may not be posting on Monday. So if I don’t see ya till later next week, I hope you have a relaxing weekend! XO

Long dresses, short dresses, strappy or long sleeve dresses. You name it, I love them. And even though we’ve had a colder & wetter (is that a word?) Fabletics

Fabletics May 2015

Sorry I am late posting this morning! Yesterday I had a little belated birthday celebration with my besties and by the time I got home I was too tired/lazy to work on today’s post! But I still wanted to get these pics up today so here it goes. I am participating in a 5k mud run in a few weeks. You guys…I have not ran in like a year. And I’m afraid doing zumba and a body works class twice a week isn’t going to have me in shape for climbing walls, etc. So I am a little (ok, a lot) nervous about it! Nothing like waiting til the last minute to try and get in shape, right? I also wanted to share this month’s Fabletics picks with you. I am wearing the Gulf Tank and the Corfu Capri’s. I had a similar pair of capri’s from last year but for some reason I ordered an xs and they were too small. But they sold out so quick that I wasn’t able to exchange. SO happy they brought back this new similar style and I got the right size! For reference, I am wearing a small in both the top and bottom. To learn more about Fabletics, click here.

Cupcakes & Cashmere x Birchbox

I’ve been a Birchbox subscriber for YEARS. No really…you can see all of my Birchbox reviews/reveals here. When I decided to cut back on blogging to just three days a week, Birchbox reviews were one of the first things to go. Not because I don’t love them, because I am still a paying customer (as I have been since day one). But I just HAD to share this one because I am ALWAYS a sucker for collaboration boxes. Especially blogger collaboration boxes. This month, Birchbox teamed up with Emily of Cupcakes & Cashmere (one of the first blogs I ever followed) to curate a box with products to help elevate your everyday life.

Birchbox x Cupcakes & Cashmere

Here’s what I got in my box:

Harvey Prince Sea Salt Texturizing Mist: Getting beachy waves is as breezy as, well, a day at the beach with this salt-infused spray. It gives hair instant volume and lift for textured, piecey waves that look like you just got back from the shore (minus the tan lines and impossible-to-wash-off sand). What’s more, this formula is cruelty-free, vegan, and free of parabens and sulfates. My thoughts: I know Harvey Prince for their perfume line which I actually bought a full size of after getting a sample in a Birchbox a while back. I haven’t tried this yet but it does smell amazing.

Marcelle Hydra-C 24H Energizing Hydrating Gel: This is a product whose name says it all: The lightweight gel formula delivers nutrient-packed moisture that lasts all day, perking up and protecting your complexion. Loaded with green tea and cucumber extracts plus vitamins C and E, this moisturizer deeply hydrates skin while protecting it against pollutants and stressors. This gel goes on with a cooling sensation, soothing skin as it gets to work. My thoughts: Very light moisturizer. I usually use lotion moisturizers so the gel texture was a bit different but I liked it.

Pixi Beauty Fairy Dust: Storybook princesses turn to a fairy godmother when they want a shimmering, ethereal look; we turn to this eye shadow powder from Pixi by Petra. The richly pigmented shadow has a radiant, gemstone-effect finish—giving our lids a glow that’s…well, almost magical. My thoughts: I don’t know why I thought this was a highlighter when I first got it. And I thought the shade was just WAY too dark for me. And then I realized it’s for your eyelids…ha! And now I love it because it is the perfect shade of coppery brown. Although I am not a huge fan of the applicator. It can be pretty messy and even with tapping off the excess, I had shadow below my eyes…which is annoying since I already applied my concealer/makeup.

Prescriptives Super Line Preventor Xtreme**: We all want to age gracefully—and we’d rather the number of wrinkles on our face not keep pace with the number of candles on our cake. This potent serum is loaded with rejuvenating ingredients to minimize lines. Equipped with the brand’s signature Super Antioxidant System, the formula protects skin from free radicals that trigger premature aging, plus boosts collagen production to leave skin looking younger and smoother. A study by the brand found this serum can reduce visible lines and wrinkles by as much as 54 percent after four weeks of use. My thoughts: You guys know I will try anything and everything under the sun to help diminish my wrinkles so I am hopeful with this one. If it’s Emily’s ALL-TIME fave, it has to be good, right? =) I’ve only tried it once so we shall see.

Tocca Eau de Parfum, Isabel**: We just can’t help but get a little spritz-happy when this pretty perfume bottle is around. Inspired by a chic city girl from Barcelona, this fragrance blends bergamot, sangria accord, Mediterranean orange, vanilla, and Spanish rose into a fresh, inspiring scent that gives us a major case of wanderlust. My thoughts: I thought for sure I wouldn’t care for this perfume because I am not a huge perfume fan in general. But I actually LOVED this. It smells delicious and isn’t too strong.
