Cupcakes & Cashmere x Birchbox

I’ve been a Birchbox subscriber for YEARS. No really…you can see all of my Birchbox reviews/reveals here. When I decided to cut back on blogging to just three days a week, Birchbox reviews were one of the first things to go. Not because I don’t love them, because I am still a paying customer (as I have been since day one). But I just HAD to share this one because I am ALWAYS a sucker for collaboration boxes. Especially blogger collaboration boxes. This month, Birchbox teamed up with Emily of Cupcakes & Cashmere (one of the first blogs I ever followed) to curate a box with products to help elevate your everyday life.

Birchbox x Cupcakes & Cashmere

Here’s what I got in my box:

Harvey Prince Sea Salt Texturizing Mist: Getting beachy waves is as breezy as, well, a day at the beach with this salt-infused spray. It gives hair instant volume and lift for textured, piecey waves that look like you just got back from the shore (minus the tan lines and impossible-to-wash-off sand). What’s more, this formula is cruelty-free, vegan, and free of parabens and sulfates. My thoughts: I know Harvey Prince for their perfume line which I actually bought a full size of after getting a sample in a Birchbox a while back. I haven’t tried this yet but it does smell amazing.

Marcelle Hydra-C 24H Energizing Hydrating Gel: This is a product whose name says it all: The lightweight gel formula delivers nutrient-packed moisture that lasts all day, perking up and protecting your complexion. Loaded with green tea and cucumber extracts plus vitamins C and E, this moisturizer deeply hydrates skin while protecting it against pollutants and stressors. This gel goes on with a cooling sensation, soothing skin as it gets to work. My thoughts: Very light moisturizer. I usually use lotion moisturizers so the gel texture was a bit different but I liked it.

Pixi Beauty Fairy Dust: Storybook princesses turn to a fairy godmother when they want a shimmering, ethereal look; we turn to this eye shadow powder from Pixi by Petra. The richly pigmented shadow has a radiant, gemstone-effect finish—giving our lids a glow that’s…well, almost magical. My thoughts: I don’t know why I thought this was a highlighter when I first got it. And I thought the shade was just WAY too dark for me. And then I realized it’s for your eyelids…ha! And now I love it because it is the perfect shade of coppery brown. Although I am not a huge fan of the applicator. It can be pretty messy and even with tapping off the excess, I had shadow below my eyes…which is annoying since I already applied my concealer/makeup.

Prescriptives Super Line Preventor Xtreme**: We all want to age gracefully—and we’d rather the number of wrinkles on our face not keep pace with the number of candles on our cake. This potent serum is loaded with rejuvenating ingredients to minimize lines. Equipped with the brand’s signature Super Antioxidant System, the formula protects skin from free radicals that trigger premature aging, plus boosts collagen production to leave skin looking younger and smoother. A study by the brand found this serum can reduce visible lines and wrinkles by as much as 54 percent after four weeks of use. My thoughts: You guys know I will try anything and everything under the sun to help diminish my wrinkles so I am hopeful with this one. If it’s Emily’s ALL-TIME fave, it has to be good, right? =) I’ve only tried it once so we shall see.

Tocca Eau de Parfum, Isabel**: We just can’t help but get a little spritz-happy when this pretty perfume bottle is around. Inspired by a chic city girl from Barcelona, this fragrance blends bergamot, sangria accord, Mediterranean orange, vanilla, and Spanish rose into a fresh, inspiring scent that gives us a major case of wanderlust. My thoughts: I thought for sure I wouldn’t care for this perfume because I am not a huge perfume fan in general. But I actually LOVED this. It smells delicious and isn’t too strong.

Hale Bob Petunia Crepe De Chine Maxi

Teressa Lane Jewelry

Hale Bob

Hale Bob Gray Maxi Dress

Hale Bob Maxi Dress

OK, can we talk about this dress?!? Because I fell in love with it immediately. It is SO feminine with the lace/crochet detailing. But the best part is the forgiving yet flattering elastic waistline (which also makes it look like it could be two pieces). It gives you shape (unlike some maxi dresses) and feels like a dream on! I’m so glad we got a break from the gloomy weather so I could finally wear it. Although we’ve got rain in the forecast again by the end of the week. I know we need it but I’m ready for Summer weather!!!

May Gray

Light layers

Gladiator Sandals

Lebrisa Designs Necklace

Oversized Sweater

Cognac Crossbody Bag

Gray Skinny Jeans

We were absolutely spoiled during the months of March & April with the most beautiful weather. I honestly think it was sunny and 80 degrees for almost two months straight. So I am not happy about this May gray weather we are having. I know we need rain but cloudy and cold is just depressing. Thankfully my husband surprised me with a weekend getaway to La Quinta to celebrate my 40th birthday. It was SUCH a fun weekend. Hope all of my momma friends had a wonderful Mother’s Day!

P.S. Thanks again mom for making this weekend possible! Love you!

Black Romper

Spring Neon

I know I’ve mentioned it before here on the blog but one of (if not THE) the reasons I fell in love with fashion blogs was for the links! Fashion inspiration AND links so I could purchase what these ladies were wearing??? YES, please. Which brings me to my point. Uh, I don’t have a link for this jacket. I usually try to find a similar alternative for you but this time…no such luck. But LOFT did come out with a similar romper this year…so there’s that.

On a separate note…I decided to bow out of the #whatshewore weekly group linkup but will continue to keep my own weekly linkup going on here. So feel free to link up your fashion related post, grab a cup of coffee and get your inspiration on from the lovely ladies below. The only rule is that you must link back to The Stylish Housewife. Can’t wait to see what you wore!

Pop of Neon

Lilly for Target Shorts

White Slide Sandals

Neon Clutch

Flutter Sleeve Tank

These shorts are one of the items I kept from my Lilly for Target haul. As someone who used to despise shorts, I can’t seem to get enough of them now (which is still kind of cray cray to me). I just love the fish print and of course the pom poms! Although they aren’t really the best quality so I’m not sure how well they are going to hold up after a few washes. We shall see. Anywho…I’ve been seeing a lot of neon in the blogosphere as of late so I decided to pull out this clutch my girlfriends got me a few years ago (or was it just last year) for my birthday to add a little pop of color.

H&M Flutter Sleeve Top (old)
Lilly Pulitzer for Target Shorts (sold out online)
F21 White Slide Sandals
Marc Jacobs Aviators
Michael Kors Runway Watch
