My 40th (how did that happen) birthday falls on Mother’s Day this year! So I’ve reminded my husband that he doesn’t get to combine the two celebrations. But all I really want is to sleep in…have coffee in bed…then have breakfast, lunch and dinner made for me. And a massage. And a pedicure. And a Swirl gift certificate. And See’s candy (California brittle, almond buds & milk chocolate molasses chips). Oh, and all of the items above. That’s not too much to ask, is it?

As a kimono, a scarf, a cape…or even as a head scarf as I have here. The list goes on and on. After watching the video below, I kind of want to wear it ALL OF THE WAYS. Pretty sure this is THE perfect piece to bring with you on vacation. One minute it’s your beach coverup, the next it ties back your beachy waves and then it’s the perfect light layer for an evening out! Am I right or am I right?

I bought this skirt overall(s) last year and wasn’t sure how I felt about it. It still feels a little “osh-kosh-bgosh-y” but I dressed it down even more this time with slip-on sneakers and a quilted sweatshirt. In my head, I thought I would wear the sweatshirt OVER the overalls but then the skirt just looked dumpy instead of the a-line mini vision I had in my head. Luckily we weren’t heading anywhere special…just to run errands and to Sonic for a cherry limeade. Mother’s Day is RIGHT around the corner and it also happens to be my 40th birthday! FORTY. Are you kidding me? How did that happen? I can remember my moms 40th birthday like it was yesterday! I am very lucky that my mom lives just 15 minutes away, works with my husband AND still wants to come over just about every other day. She is always there for all of us when we need her and would do ANYTHING for her children. Growing up, I always knew that NO MATTER WHAT my mom had my back. Now that I am a mom myself, I know the feeling.

You know you’ve been married for seven years when your anniversary comes and goes without you OR your husband noticing! Last weekend I pulled up my calendar to plan our week and realized it WAS OUR ANNIVERSARY. Oops. We both were actually shocked that neither of us realized it. So we made up for it with a spontaneous trip to our old stomping grounds for a celebratory fruity drink (I had a snow cone mojito…yum!) by the pool and a relaxing day at the spa.
