El Paseo Fashion Week 2015

This weekend I was invited to attend El Paseo Fashion Week in Palm Desert. I went last year and had SUCH a fun time that my husband and I are making it a tradition to attend annually now. I missed opening night last year so it was a treat to get dressed up and get a front row seat to all of the fashion/action. I brought a few different dresses with me and I’m so glad I went with the dressier option. People were dressed to the nines and some women even wore full length gowns!

El Paseo Fashion Week 2015

We arrived early for the cocktail reception and just as I was about to go in to grab my spot in the media section, I realized I had left my camera’s battery STILL PLUGGED IN charging at the hotel. We scoured the place for ANYONE who shoots with a Nikon to see if anyone had an extra battery available and EVERY single person had a Cannon. So after having a major minor panic attack, I thanked my lucky stars that I had a full battery on my iphone and made the best of it. The tenth anniversary celebration kicked off with eight designers but my top three faves were Anthony Franco, Eduardo Lucero and Oliver Tolentino.

Anthony Franco El Paseo Fashion Week

There was a major buzz in the room as soon as the Anthony Franco collection started down the runway. There was a boxing theme throughout but what caught my eye were the beautiful prints and stunning chic suits.

Eduardo Lucero El Paseo Fashion Week

The Eduardo Lucero collection had a bit of a sexy matador feel to it. That is just my interpretation…but I loved each look that came down the runway even more than the next.

Oliver Tolentino El Paseo Fashion Week

The dresses by Oliver Tolentino were BEYOND gorgeous. The crowd was ooohing & ahhhing in delight. I’m pretty sure that every woman in the room mentally checked off her dream gown that first night.

And here are just a few of my favorite random shots from opening night. My husband and I immediately recognized Karen Barone who we now know is a renowned artist. After the show, a live band had the crowd dancing. Me and my hubby snapping a selfie. After the show, we walked over to Mastro’s and ran into the legendary James Goldstein. What an interesting life that man has led. His business card really does say Fashion, Architecture and Basketball. I’d sure love a tour of his closet!

Fashion Week El Paseo is going on now through March 28th. Click here for more details or to purchase tickets.

I am a Taurus and a TOTAL creature of habit. So remixing is not a real easy task for me. I wear an outfit one way and then I typically reach for the same pieces each time I wear it. But since I can’t (well, I could but why) wear the same exact outfit on the blog twice, I made just the slightest change to this outfit and called it a day. See the previous ways I’ve worn this top and these shorts here, here and here.

I don’t know what has happened but I can no longer skip a day of washing my hair. I used to be able to wash my hair and wear it straight and then day two I would curl it. Now…I get a greasy scalp and dry ends. Throw in a windy day and here is what you get! One of…actually…a couple of my besties can go DAYS without washing their hair. One of them can go a whole week. I won’t tell ya who (not that you would know her…lol) because she may kill me but it is NOT fair.

P.S. I am LOVING these new quilted vegan leather shorts I picked up on a recent Anthro shopping trip! They are very well made and less than $100. Oh, and they also come in a cute moss color too!

Off The Shoulder Dress

ASOS off the shoulder dress

I convinced my husband to buy me these gladiator sandals for Valentine’s Day. Clearly when I showed them to him online, he wasn’t paying attention because as soon as I came out with this outfit on, he thought the sandals were hideous. “As long as they make you happy” was more along the lines of what he actually said, but I KNOW he is not a fan. LOL. Now I know that gladiator sandals are an acquired taste and may not be for everyone, but I happen to love them. And especially these in particular. The buckles are real…no back zipper…so they are fabulous for my chicken ankles. Only downside…a PAIN to take on and off. Real buckles. LOL. Hope you have a great weekend!

Today I am excited to announce that I’ve teamed up with three stylish moms for a new weekly fashion link-up! Every Wednesday, Vera, Audrey, Megan and I will be sharing an #ootd (outfit of the day) and you can join in on the fun by sharing your favorite look using the link-up tool below. For our first link-up we are each sharing a look from Lands’ End‘s new Spring arrivals. I was immediately drawn to these striped chino shorts and this red blazer. The nautical trend (Can I call it a trend? It’s more of a classic, I think.) is definitely one of my favorites! Oh, and I’m just going to go ahead and apologize now for my blinding white legs. You would think with all of the nice weather we’ve been having that I’d have a little color by now! Oh well, at least it’s warm enough for shorts so I can’t complain! I hope you guys enjoy the new feature.
